Departments across Suffolk County came together in Mattituck to train in the scenario of an active shooter. Flanders Ambulance was standing by with the gator in case an actual real world emergency happens at the drill. Flanders also sent an ambulance with a crew to participate in the training. The training was planned and executed on the morning of 8/19/2023. This training included Suffolk County aviation, with some people being airlifted to the near by hospitals. It also included Southold PD, Mattituck FD, Shirley EMS, Cutchogue FD and many more. This drill sparked interest with the recent uprising of active shooters throughout the country. Survivors from previous incidents came out to speak to the people participating in the drill of their experiences. Overall this was a great experience Flanders was able to participate in.
